It's going to be cold in the next few days – so keep vulnerable people warm and well!

A cold spell is expected over the new few days with a 90% probability of icy weather until Sunday (24 February) so it is important to make sure vulnerable people are kept warm and well.
The Winter Home Check Service is still available to help vulnerable people, such as the elderly, or disabled or families with children and on a low income, get advice and support to keep warm and well.

The service includes:
  • full assessment of the home to identify how to keep it warm
  • small preventative works such as reducing drafts, improving insulation, clearing gutters, lagging pipes and clearing chimneys
  • providing emergency temporary heating.
Cllr Keith Glazier, Lead Member responsible for Public Health, said:
“Even though the sun may shine every now and then, it is still very cold and will be over the next few days. People may think winter is behind them, but they should use this service if it is needed. Also, I would encourage people to check on older neighbours or relatives, to make sure they are safe, warm and well”.
