Sussex Downs College are offering an exclusive new printmaking course in partnership with Towner.
The course, called ‘Further Steps in Printing’, starts on Saturday 26 January and gives participants the unique opportunity to see behind the scenes of the Towner collection and take inspiration from the wide range of prints in Towner’s state of the art collection store.
Prints in the Towner Collection include works by renowned artists such as Eric Ravilious, Edward Bawden, Robert Tavener and Victor Passmore. Course participants will have the chance to see works not currently on display and to use these as a basis for their own work.
Participants will use Sussex Downs College print studio to learn the practical process that artists use in their work. Students will have the opportunity to explore a wide range of printmaking processes including dry point etching, lino cut, wood block and collagraph.
The course is run by experienced artist and tutor Annabel O’Neill. Annabel is an illustrator and printmaker who has exhibited in Sussex and the UK.
This course follows ‘Introduction to Printmaking’ but is also suitable for those with some printing experience who did not attend the introductory course.
The first session will take place at Towner on Saturday 26 January at 12.30pm. Thereafter, classes will take place on Thursday evenings 6.30-9.30pm at Sussex Downs College Eastbourne campus. There will be a half term break on Thursday 21 February. The cost is £112.50 per person for a 9 week course.
