WHILE director Sam Mendes quits 007, Barbara Broccoli confirms she’ll be upping the incentives to keep Daniel Craig in the iconic film role.
Producer Barbara, daughter of the late Bond producer Albert R “Cubby” Broccoli, says that she’s determined to keep Craig, 45, in his tuxedo for the next few years.
“I’m not letting Daniel go anywhere let me be clear about that,” she told Day & Night, adding that she was “sad” that Mendes will not be returning to the franchise following the award-winning Skyfall.
Barbara, 52, says the next instalment of the secret agent series will be the hardest of all.
“We don’t want to disappoint the fans. They have really kept us going all these years. We always try to make a film that will please them so the pressure is on even more so than ever.”
Barbara, who co-produces the films with her half-brother Michael, told us she was thrilled that 007 was an integral part of the Olympics last year, when Craig appeared in the opening ceremony alongside Her Majesty.
“She was extraordinary. It was such a wonderful moment for the whole world to see the Queen,” says Barbara. “It showed she has great humour and spirit.”
But will we see Barbara in a scene with Craig any time soon? “Michael does the cameos. I just want to hide under the duvet.”
