A road in the centre of Hailsham will be closed for four days during the Easter holidays to allow resurfacing work to take place.
Market Street will close from its intersection with High Street and Vicarage Road to the junction with The Stiles from Monday 8 April to Thursday 11 April 2013.
East Sussex County Council will resurface and repaint the road, with work being carried out between 9.30am and 4pm on each day.
A diversion route will be in place via Bell Banks Road, Station Road, North Street and High Street or via the westbound, one-way section of the A295 George Street, Station Road and Bell Banks Road.
Roger Williams, East Sussex County Council head of highways, said: “As with any roadworks scheme, there will be some disruption but this scheme has been timed to coincide with the school holidays to minimise the inconvenience to road users.
“We ask residents, business owners and motorists to bear with us while we complete this work, which will improve the safety of the road and give motorists a better journey.”
Businesses in the affected section of road will be open as usual while the work is carried out, and signs to this effect will be displayed.
