After being
voted the UK’s best free airshow for two years in a row by Airscene fans,
Airbourne: Eastbourne International Airshow is back this year even bigger
and better than ever, with not one but four Red Arrows displays to
delight fans.
The four
day free seafront airshow which runs from 15 – 18 August, last
year enjoyed the busiest day ever in its 20 year history, and this year is set
for even more excitement thanks to the quadruple visit by the world’s most
famous high precision display team along with the best of British
flying.
Joining the
Red Arrows, fans can look forward to more highlights from the RAF and Army
including the Lynx, Tucano and Tutor, the nostalgic Battle of Britain
Memorial Flight and for fast jet fans, the resounding heavy metal of the
Eurofighter Typhoon. The heavy duty, tandem rotor Chinook
helicopter also returns with a demonstration of its enormous heavy lift
capabilities complete with gravity defying somersaults.
Alongside
the military displays, family favourites, the Breitling Wingwalkers, make
a welcome return after recently wowing the crowds in Australia, featuring daring
acrobats on the wing. Also returning are world record holders, The
Blades, who will be zooming across the skies after flying a record breaking
26 consecutive loops last season.
With even
more displays to be announced, fans can look forward to a military exhibition
featuring the best of the RAF, Army and Navy, plus arena displays, children’s
entertainment beaches, parachute displays and top flight display line
hospitality. In the evening Bandstand concerts entertain each night, along with
an outdoor film screening and a seafront firework spectacular over the
weekend.
Fans can
also get a birds eye view of the flying from iconic beauty spot Beachy Head or
take to the skies with a helicopter pleasure flight over the scenic South Downs
National Park.
Airbourne
takes place on Eastbourne seafront with arena and ground displays on the Western
Lawns over all four days, and entry is free. For more information visit www.eastbourneairshow.com or telephone 0871 663 0031.
