On Thursday evening I toured the new InterContinental hotel in Westminster. I think it's set to become a hugely popular place for many Westminster villagers. It has some great bars, restaurants and reception rooms. I particularly like its Blue Boar pub-style bar - its walls covered with political cartoons, including from Gerald Scarfe. It reminded me of the Off the Record downstairs bar of the Hay Adams Hotel in Washington.The whole hotel is full of political artworks of various kinds including an extraordinary installation depicting a monstrous House of Commons. My iPhone snaps (below) don't quite do it justice but go see it for yourself in the hotel lobby - the government, front and backbenches populated by Daleks, Stars Wars characters, gremlins, Hobbits and various other cartoon characters.
