Tiaras and Treasure Proves a Hit with Car Boot Fair Fans

After three weeks of business, brand new indoor collectors’ event Tiaras and Treasure has proved popular amongst bargain hunters with the venue reaching full capacity for stall holders this February and March. The event has proven that despite the adverse weather, traders are excited to participate and customers are eager to find a bargain!

Tiaras and Treasure is a regular Sunday morning event at the International Lawn Tennis Centre, College Road and has become the place to find antiques and collectibles this winter. It has been running for three weeks and has been a great hit with those who have been missing their boot fair indulgence.

It has caught the attention of local boot fair sellers and antique traders who are re- booking for future weeks to make sure they have their spot. Visitors are coming away with brilliant finds and Eastbourne Auction Rooms have been on hand with free valuations.

The event is a great place to sell unwanted items and look for and buy bargains, including home made cakes and chutneys. To warm up, visitors can celebrate or commiserate their valuations over a Winter Pimms or enjoy a coffee and snack at Devonshire’s, the Tennis Centre’s refreshment kiosk.
Despite heavy snow and torrential rain during the last three events, bargain hunters haven’t been put off and organisers have been pleased to welcome visitors to the internationally acclaimed sporting venue.
Jeannette May, Senior Valuer at Eastbourne Auction Rooms, says “Despite the snow and the rain, we have been very busy giving lots of advice on heirlooms and also what to do when a loved one dies, Remember – if in doubt, check it out! With small collectable items at a premium, please feel free to bring them along for an informal chat. If you are clearing out your jewellery boxes, bear in mind that gold and silver are at record high prices and don’t forget costume jewellery can be worth money also.”
Customers have also enjoyed having the chance to look around the Centre which has played host to many home grown and international tennis stars, and is also available for private function room hire, and those who come along this Sunday 17 February or Sunday 24 February and book room hire, will receive a 15% discount on their first booking.
With BBC’s Antiques Roadshow due to visit Eastbourne this year, it seems Eastbourne residents and visitors have got the antiques bug!
Tiaras and Treasure will run on selected Sundays from 9am to 2pm. Dates are 17th, 24th February and 10th, 24th March.
